Meet Your Tutor

Caroline Dearie, A/OGA

Welcome!

My name is Caroline Dearie. I’m so glad you’ve found my page!

Education – I graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood/ Intervention Specialist (Special Education) in May 2018.

Experience – I always wanted to be a traveling teacher; to experience new classrooms, places, and people. I’ve taught in public charter schools located in Scottsdale, Arizona and San Antonio, Texas. I also lived in Lviv, Ukraine teaching university students Advanced English. I then relocated to Louisville, Kentucky where I spent two years at a Catholic elementary school supporting children with language based learning differences.

Continued Training – While in Louisville, it was necessary that I studied the brain and incorporated The Science of Reading to meet the needs of the learners in my classroom. My Associate Level Membership in The Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA) involved a practicum, intensive coursework, weekly training with my Fellow of Record, and daily lessons. Below you can find my current credentials. In the “Parent Resources” section under the Interventions tab, you can read more about the Academy and Approach. My training has continued.  I am currently working towards my Certified Level Membership in the OGA.

Teaching in diverse classrooms quickly taught me that I desire to work with students who have difficulty accessing the English Language – whether that be students in different parts of the world or in my own community. I feel equipped to engage the students in my care, accommodate their needs, and celebrate their personal growth.
